This wasn't done by me but by PlanoMan. We were playing the 9K 100 dollar SS. 6 players had limped in at 1/200. With 4500, PlanoMan raises to 400. Obviously this is a horrible raise and just increases the size of the pot, considering how many people limped in. We all call, the flop comes 593, Planoman bets out about 50% of the pot, two guys call. Turn comes an 8, Planoman bets strong, another guy goes all in, planoman calls and turns over 67 for the nut straight. Horribly played, extremely lucky. Recap. 1. minimum raise with 67 into 6 limpers (horrible) 2. 50% pot bet into 6 players (horrible) 3. turning the nuts and thinking that your good - priceless. Labels: donkey-stories, Online Poker

I was playing in a cash game and a player was slow playing a pair of AA. He/she just called and I was in BB position. I had 2 7 and the flop came out 2 7 K. The AA (UTG) bet about 1/3 the pot. There were 2 other players beside me and we all called. The turn was a Q and the UTG bet 1/3 the pot again. One of the other players raised and I and the UTG called. The river was a 2 and again the UTG raised 1/3 the pot and the other player re-raised to Pot. I called and the UTG went all in and so did the other player. I called and showed my full boat. The UTG was fit to be tied that a 2 7 was even in the pot. It was such a donkey play to slow play AA UTG as I would have folded the dreaded 2 7 if any bet had been made at all. Needless to say He/She was calling me a donkey and fish and I was more than happy to take all his money while he was on Tilt Labels: donkey-stories, Online Poker

My worst play ever was when I first started playing on Absolute Poker. It was actually very funny and dumb (by the way I just learned how to play). I thought I had a straight and was very excited about it. I really thought I had a winning hand. I had in my hand an A 2. The flop came out as K Q J. So I thought yes!!! I hit the straight since 2 came after A, if you know what I mean...LOL (J Q K A 2). Then the turn was an 8 and then the river was a 5, and I raised all in with my 242 dollars I had left thinking I had the winning hand. He called and he had hit his two pair, Kings and Queens and I lost being very confused. I argued that I had a straight when everyone at the table was telling me I didn't have a straight and calling me a donkey, which hurt my ego. That's when I truly had to read over everything about Texas Hold'em again. Labels: donkey-stories

Hi, my names Ryan, I think I am a Donkey. I play suited cards almost anytime I get em, from any position especially if they are connectors. I am super lucky, when I was six I hit the bullseye the first time I ever through a dart, then my first hand in crib was 26 and my first hand in poker was a full house. I like stupid hands, like 5-8 and Q-8. Anyway, I play poker with my friends every saturday, I walk away about even overall (I have a friend named dry_bread on the server who's worse then me mabey). One specific evening, I decided I was going to try a strategy of always playing hearts, so If I had a heart in my "pocket cards" I would play them. So were playing along and I was delt an king hearts and seven of clubs (sevens my lucky number) I was actually in the second lst position so I played it, Wade, Eddy, Collin and another player I cant remember came in for my RAISE preflop of about 5% of our starting stacks (I pre-flop raise often as part of a strategy). The flop was a 10c, jh, 4h, Wade in first position bet 40 thousand (about 10% of our starting chips) and Eddy thought about it and eventually called him, then collin quickly raised them both to 120 thousand. The other guy I can' nt remember folded so I went all in knowing my only way out was an ace or two hearts. the other thre players called and revealed a 10s-qs, 8d-9c, and a 10d-4s and me with my Kh-7c. The turn revealed a 9h, so Wade with his 10s-Qs now had an open ended straight and eddy with his 8d-9c had his same open lower open ended straight with a pair of nines, and collins 10d-4s held as two pair. Then the river card was an Ace of Hearts, of course giving me the nut flush don'nt know what the odd's of two suits then two more of the same suit are but you dont see that often. In fact there is probably a better one I could tell but I can'nt remember them all. Thanx for your time, hope you enjoyed it. Labels: donkey-stories

Wow after reading that donkey play I feel I must leave a story of my own to help reduce the sting of his story. I play alot of poker online on a few different sites but this story came in my game of choice, a live one. I was playing 5-10 limit holdem on the Sun Cruz Casino Boat in Little River South Carolina. I was holding AK of spades and it was my second trip to the Casino Boat. One week earlier I had made my first trip to the Boat with the minimum Buy In of 100 dallars not knowing what to expect and walked out with an insane total of $1150 in only three hours of play! But back my donkey moment. Again I had AK of spades and in a community pot of 9 players two spades fell on the flop. With all sorts of action in front of me as I was on the button I ended up calling capped bets on the flop and turn. A heart fell on the river which just happened to look like a spade as I was wearing a pair of rediculously dark sunglasses. With it checked all the way around I proceded to make a bet of $10 holding "the nuts" and was pleased when the player from 1st position reraised me. We ended up capping and I triumphantly threw down my cards announcing A high Flush!!!! I lost to top set with no flush or straight possible on the board. I never heard the end of it, the worst part is I am only 21 and my nearest competitor in age must have been 55. I have never been called "son" in one day more than I was in those three hours of play. All beacuse of a rediculous pair of sunglasses. Hope this makes you feel a little better.
Stephen Daniels.... Huhwhat on Bodog and Downhiller of Full Tilt. My absolute shall remain nameless.

I was at Motor City Casino in Detroit,MI one afternoon playing NL Texas Holdem. Doing rather well I might add. I was up about $1800 when I noticed this tall thin lanky fellow take the seat beside me. Not much was being said at the table except for a couple of guys at the other end of the table talking about their jobs. Well this guy looked excited and nervous all at the same time. You could tell this had to be his first time at the live poker table. He puts out $300 and within four hands he has to reload. He buys in for another $300 and this time it is all gone on two hands. He ask the dealer to save his seat and leaves the table. About 15 minutes later he is back and puts up $1000. Well it seemed for about an hour he had learned some patience. He went up and down but stayed pretty much around even and seemed to be playing better. Then comes my nightmare, I get pocket queens. I raise $100 and he along with two others call. The flop comes with jack, three, and six so I raise $300. He calls and the other two guys fold. A ten hits on the turn so of course I assume I still have the best hand so I bet out $600 which would put him all in. Guess what happens, he calls. Well I am licking my chops now. Then the dealer says show em. He turns over a six and a two. He called all in with a pair of sixes. The entire table starts laughing out loud and asking what was he thinking. He just shrugs his shoulders trying not to look embarrassed. But when the dealer turned over the river card that turned out to be a two giving him two pair, I lost it. What a complete(god forgive me again) @$%@$#%^^@donkey%@%$#^!^!$%$donkey@$#%@#$%donkey. I then got a tray and loaded up my chips, cashed out, and have not been back their since. Even though I made money that afternoon, that bad beat donkey left such a bad taste in my mouth for that casino, that I have not had the desire to return. Labels: donkey-stories

This will be short and sweet...the "absolute" worst "donkey play" is when a player jumps all in despite their position or stack size with any pocket pair regardless of its initial value. Aces all the way down to deuces. This is done, in my opinion, by those players who know they don't have it in them to fold a pocket pair under any circumstance, so they essentially let the board play their cards for them knowing they will simply wind up calling any bet or raise put before them anyhow. THIS...is the ultimate donkey maneuver! Labels: donkey-stories

ok here's the board there was K 7 9 on the flop i had K 7 bet a reasonable amount for the stage of the tournament i was in one person went in with me so i figured he had a K. the turn 9 so now K799 on the table not really lined up for suits so that didnt matter i check he checked so i figure ok so he doesnt have a 9 unless im being slowed played yet at this point in the tournament people are playing really hard and lots of betting with nothing going on. so no worrie's i think. River card a 3 "phew in the clear flopped 2 pair" so I think totally not thinking about the 9's on the table and that my 7's are still good i bet all-in he bets all in and wins with 2 pairs King's and 9's Ace kicker. Im a donkey hope you enjoyed my story love the site btw keep up the good work Labels: donkey-stories, Online Poker

There was this one time I was playing in our weekly cash game with a bunch of close friends. These friends live and breathe poker every single day. Two of them have played in the WSOP, one winning over 40k. Another friend plays online everyday and usually banks about $400/day. The last 2 including myself play part-time online, mainly on Poker Stars but sometimes absolute. Anyways, i bought in for $80 and everyone else bought in for $100, excpet for brian who bought in for $250??hes crazy...So to make a long story short i limped in 1st position with 2's(.25/.50 blinds) the next guy raised to $2.00, fold, fold, raise to $5.00 ,fold...then back to me,(keep in mind im usually a good player but i wanted to make a donk call on my friend who just got back from the WSOP),i raised to $12,call,call...flop was AAK..I bet $20,call,raise to $40..i called and the next guy folded...heads up i have 2's, next card is a 10...so A A K 10...now there was a flush draw out there but i wasnt worried so i pushed all in and got Insta-called...my friend had AQ suited so he had trip aces with the flush draw and obviously u know that the river was a deuce! Boat beats trips...That was my crazy story to beat my friend who got back from the WSOP and won 40k...wow he sucks?Like i said we play poker every single day so ive even seen royal flush beat trips...quads beat quads..pokers poker and the beats will never change..peace out, chris (skylinepunkR) Labels: donkey-stories

Hey absolute poker. Here's my best donkey play: once, when playing at my house with friends, I was dealt pocket aces. I didn't raise preflop, because I wanted to slowplay. the flop was three connected and two suited. It was checked to me, and I checked, even though I was last to act; I wanted to trap someone. the turn made the board four connected and three suited. One of my friends bet, the other raised, then I decided to spring my trap and go all in. both friends called. of course, one had a straight, the other a flush, and I was a huge donkey for waiting until it was too late to put my chips in. my friends never get tired of telling that story. on the plus side, that taught me to protect my hand. My best donkey play was when deep into a tournament with a short stack trapped between two players raising,Ireraised and went all-in with a 3 7 offsuit.Stating I did not want to go broke with a good hand and tripled my short stack and went on to win the tournament. Labels: donkey-stories

So my story goes like that: It was NL hold'em ($1/$2), I think there was 6 players besides me on the table. I was opening from early position with 2c2s with a standard 4BB raise, the player on the button called and the blinds folded. The flop was 3hQsQd rainbow, I bet out for the other players stack, because I thought he had overcards or something not worth calling all-ins with. In fact he calls and shows Qh7h and I said: Oh, come on, you donkeys always get lucky and hit miracles. But the board wasn't finished yet. The turn card was the 6h, giving the other player a flush draw as a reward and the river was the 2h giving him the flush and of course the full boat for me. Hope you'll find it interesting. Ive had 3 of a kind 8's, raised preflop and got called by 7 2 and was beat with a eight high straight. Ive played 9 2 suited all in (because I was tilting and getting pissed off). and won on the river.... everyone plays like a donkey, maybe just to have fun....or just plain ol donks hahahaha shayne_blue7 Labels: donkey-stories

I was playing a hand a couple of years ago in a cash game and was dealt AA. I slowplayed them and called the big blind to see the flop. *Donkey action 1* The flop came down A A 10. Quads! OMG. If i bet the other guy in the pot (was small blind) is bound to fold. So i check to encourage a steal. He checks also. *Donkey action 2* The turn was a Q. I decide that I need to get some money into the pot sooner or later so I put a half pot sized bet trying to make it look like a continuation bet/steal. He raised me! Here we go I think. So i reraise him. And he reraises me back. Cut a long story short, we both end up all in, and he has me covered. *Donkey action 3* I am about to double up my chips and couldn't be happier. My plan has worked, I have fleeced the guy as much as I could have dreamed of. His cards are turned and he has AKQJ10 of spades. Royal Flush. The river was irrelevant. I had lost everything. Only a prize donkey doesn't consider the possibility he is beaten. My laptop was broken as a result of this hand, and I didn't play poker again for about 4 months. I hope (oddly) that you will consider me your prize donkey, as I would love a chance to play one of your bigger tournies. Thanks for listening to my confession. p.s. IF ONLY there had been a bad beat jackpot!!!!!!!!!!!! Labels: donkey-stories

hi I have a story that is really good. My name is ken and my account name is schmalldeek56. I was playing OMAHA PL at a heads up 20+1 sit and go. my hand was 44K7. the other opponent had JJA9. ready for the flop? here it is.. J A 4. my trip fours are best right? NOT! he's got trip Jacks! well I thought I had the best hand (I mean who thinks hitting trips on the flop isnt the best hand out there so far?) . . so he bets. I raise, and he calls. the Turn card is a 9. once again he bets pot, I raise, and he goes ALL-IN!!! I call immeadiately and it looked like it was in slow motion. I saw his trip jacks but then I rivered a 4 and made four of a kind!!!! my only out came to be and I won the heads up match haha. thanks again, shmalldeek56 Labels: donkey-stories
