Poker pro Freddy Deeb won the $50,000 World Championship H.O.R.S.E. event at the 2007 World Series of Poker early this morning. He walked away with $2.3 million in prize money and the honor of winning the most prestigious event in the tournament.

After five days and almost 15 hours of final play, Las Vegas poker pro Freddy Deeb finally won Event #39, the $50,000 buy-in H.O.R.S.E. World Championship tournament early this morning.
The final play ranks as the fourth-longest recorded final table in WSOP history. 148 players played in the event, 5 more than last year, and it was a field with more World Series bracelet winners participating than not. Top players included Phil Hellmuth, Barry Greenstein and Annie Duke.

Deeb started gambling for a living when he fled to the United States from Lebanon in the 70s and couldn?t get a work permit, and has been playing poker for more than 30 years. This was Deeb?s second World Series of Poker victory. He won his first bracelet in a deuce-to-seven lowball event back in 1996. Altogether, Deeb has now cashed 22 times at the WSOP.

Winning the event paid Deeb $2.3 million in prize money, but the honor of winning the event itself was priceless. "[This bracelet] means everything to me. They are the toughest players in the world. It has the highest buy-in. Except for the $10,000 buy-in this is the bracelet that means the most of any of them," Deeb said.
