Yesterday poker legend Phil Hellmuth won his 11th gold bracelet at this year?s World Series of Poker, making him the all-time leader in bracelet wins.

When Hellmuth entered Event #15, the $1,500 buy-in No-Limit Hold?em event at the 2007 WSOP tournament, all eyes were on him to see if he would break the tie between himself and fellow poker legends Doyle Brunson and Johnny Chan, each with 10 gold bracelets. And he did break the tie; Hellmuth?s win in Event #15 makes him the first player ever to win 11 gold bracelets!

"This is the one I really wanted," Hellmuth said, "I have so much respect for Doyle and Johnny. To now be at the top of the all-time list is really about as good a feeling as I have ever had."

Not only did Hellmuth break the record of gold bracelet wins, he also defeated the largest number of opponents in a tournament. There were 2,682 players entering the three-day event. By yesterday afternoon, Monday June 11, there were only 9 players left in the game. Hellmuth entered the final table, which was held in the Bluff Tent, where only live players and selected personal observers were allowed, second place with 1,482,000 in chips. Hellmuth won the final hand against Andy Philachack at 7:55 Monday night. Hellmuth?s win in the event gave him $637,254, his 59th WSOP cash ? another record Hellmuth holds! He now has over $7 million in winnings.

During the official WSOP gold bracelet ceremony, Hellmuth was personally awarded his 11th gold bracelet by poker legends Johnny Chan and Doyle Brunson. Johnny Chan?s comment? "Phil, good job. I guess now Doyle and I gotta catch up!"

Phil Hellmuth is seeking his 11th bracelet in this year's World Series of Poker. All eyes will be on Hellmuth as he goes for it in the $1,500 buy-in No-Limit Hold'em championship, which has been kicked off yesterday.

Hellmuth is one of the most recognizable players in poker and many people have strong opinions of him, negative as well as positive. While his ten WSOP bracelets bring him much recognition, his notoriety is also due to his perceived inability to gracefully handle adversity and defeat. While many professional players and fans alike consider his antics distasteful and abrasive at times, they respect his talent for the game and his personality when he is away from the table. It can be contended that Hellmuth engages in some bad etiquette purposely, since a large part of selling his image is as a "poker brat." Hellmuth also wrote a book titled "Poker Brat", which contains autobiographical material as well as poker advice.

Another player getting attention at the WSOP is Vinny Vinh, but not for playing Poker. Vinh did not show up for the second day of the $1000 No Limit Hold'em event at the 2007 WSOP. He was second in chips after the first day, but he remains disapeared. Rumors spread like crazy, is he on drugs or booth? He has been seen alive, but there is no word about his condition, or if he will show up again to play more poker.
