The team from Absolute called me after I won the 1st Dream Package to congratulate me and tell me some of the things to expect over the next year. One of the first things, they asked if I wanted to travel to Vancouver, British Columbia, to shoot a commercial for the next Dream Package tournament.

Sounded like fun and something different to me! Plus I had never been outside the U.S. Luckily, I had just gotten a passport for a trip to the Bahamas this summer. They arranged my travel for me and off I went. I had to fly from Peoria, IL.- to Chicago- to Seattle- to Vancouver, but it wasn't bad at all.
Steve, from Absolute, picked me up at the airport. We also met up with Jonathan, the writer, from Toronto. We proceded to the Sheraton Vancouver Wall Centre Hotel, where they put me up for the time I was there. It was a pretty nice hotel with a couple of bars and a nice view of the city.
You can tell Vancouver isn't far from Seattle, as there's a Starbucks on every corner, sometimes two! I unpacked and we went to get a bite to eat. The first place we ate was a great spot called Earls. The waitresses were all dressed in black and very friendly. We all got a steak filet that was excellent.
Steve talked me into trying some kind of a sushi wrap thingy. Let's just say I wasn't impressed, but that's just me. Steve and Jonathan liked it.
After dinner they asked what I wanted to do, so we decided to go to a casino.
We went to the Edgewater casino. It reminded me of the riverboats like back home. Kinda small but they did have a poker room.

Jonathan and Steve went to the blackjack table. I strolled over to the craps table and realized I had to go to the cashier window to exchange $200 U.S. dollars for $220 Canadien. What a deal.
I played a little craps and three card poker because the regular poker room had a long waiting list. We only stayed for about an hour and a half. I was up $100, and the other guys did a little better than that. We called it a night after that to get some rest.

The next day was the commercial shoot to promote the next Absolute Dream Package. It was about a twenty minute walk from the hotel to the studio. I had to sit around while Serinda (A.P.'s spokesperson/model) got her make-up done. For the commercial all I had to do was sit in a chair and look pretty ( or whatever you want to call it).

Actually Serinda did all the talking, and I just had to pretend I was pinching her ass. Then the director said it wasn't realistic enough so I really had to pinch her ass!
What a tough gig this was.
Ha! Now I know why it takes so long to make a movie.
We were there for 5 or 6 hours to make a 30 second commercial. It should be airing on the poker channels soon.
After the shoot we went to get a bite to eat for lunch. I think it was the Cactus Club. I had a stir fry chicken and rice bowl. Very good. Then we walked around downtown and did a little sight seeing on the waterfront to get a view of the mountains and some pictures.
It really is quite a beautiful city.

After a little relaxation and down time we headed out for dinner. It was a great spot right on the water called Sandbar. I wanted to try something new so I got Atlantic Char. It was a good tender fish, kinda flaky and delicious. With a bottle of wine and some other appetizers, they were treating me right.
The word of the day up in Canada is "nice". When anybody likes something it's always "nice". Then we went back to the Edgewater casino.
It wasn't so kind to us this time. I broke almost dead even; Steve and Jonathan gave back pretty much everything they won the day before.

All in all it was a fun trip and they treated me great. Thanks again Steve and Absolute.
