What types of tournaments does Absolute Poker offer?
Absolute Poker offers the most comprehensive tournament structure available on the net. We offer both single and multi-table tournaments with variations of each. We also offer Private Tournaments where our most loyalplayers can set up their own online poker tournament structure inviting the players of their choice.
How do I see what online poker tournaments are coming up?
You can view all online poker tournaments by clicking on Tournaments in the Main Lobby. You can view all tournaments in progress, registering, or recently completed. Simply click on each individual tournament for further details.
How do I register for an online poker tournament?
Under the "Tournament" tab, click on the tournament that you want to register for. If you are not already signed in, you will need to do so at this point.
How can I receive information on an online poker tournament once it has been erased from the tournament board?
To receive information on an online poker tournament that has been completed, simply click on the tournament game listing from the Tournament Lobby. In doing so, you can see the results of the online poker tournament until pulled from the listing.
What happens if there is a problem with the system during an online poker tournament?
In the case of a server crash, the hands that were in play during the crash as well as the player's chip count will be recovered and set to the initial setting prior to the start of the hand.
Can I play in another game while I am playing in an online poker tournament?
Yes, you can play in both an online poker tournament as well as a ring game simultaneously. However, out of respect for other players please be sure to not delay the speed of the online poker games. In the rare event, when it is impossible to restore a tournament after the crash, the tournament will be canceled and the unclaimed portion of the prize pool will be equally divided among all the remaining poker players.
What is a private tournament?
Private Tournaments are real money Single Table tournaments where a maximum 9 players can play exclusively with each other. If you have made a deposit with Absolute Poker, you may request to join already created Private Tournament groups created by Private Tournament Captain players. Captain players will have the ability to accept or refuse your request for membership.
To be eligible for Private Tournaments configuration you have to be in a Gold, Platinum VIP or Diamond Elite status within the FAME loyalty program. Captains players can create one private tournament and join up to 4 others. While there may be more than 9 players per tournament group, only the first 9 players who take a seat in the tournament will get to play at that time.
What is a satellite tournament?
A satellite is a smaller buy-in tournament in which you can win an entry into a larger buy-in tournament. For example, if you won a $2 satellite tournament that had at least 10 entrants, your prize would be a $20 entry into a $20 buy-in tournament. In Single Table tournaments, instead of distributing the prize pool over the top 3 finishers as done in standard tournaments with 9 entrants, the prize is pooled and awarded to first place only. In a Multi Table tournament with 20 entrants, 2 x $20 tournament buy-in entries would be awarded. If there are not enough people to generate a prize pool equal to the buy in of the larger event, cash will be awarded instead.
How does late registration work?
Depending on the tournament, late registration will be set to end when time has expired or when a certain blind level has been reached. One or two seats will remain open at each table for players who register late. Late registrants will be randomly placed in these open seats. Once all seats have been filled, a new table will be created. When a new table is created for a late registrant, players will be randomly picked from other tables to fill the new table. Late registrants will fill the seats that are vacated by players who move to the new table. The process will continue until late registration ends due to time or if the set blind has been reached.
Did you recently change Absolute Poker's raise logic?
We recently changed our raise logic to align it with online poker standards. Players will no longer have to subtract the amount on the table in front of them from the bet that they wish to make. Previously, players who wished to raise and already had a bet in front of them, would first have to determine the amount they wished to bet, then subtract the amount already in front of them. Now, players can decide how much they wish to bet, and just enter the amount, which will be their full bet.
What are Synchronized Breaks?
The majority of our Multi-Table Tournaments will now break at the 55th minute of every hour. This will allow players who play in Multi-Table Tournaments to take a break without worrying about missing hands. Please visit our Synchronized Breaks page for more information.
