The Swan Takes a DiveWednesday, November 21, 2007 / posted by Poker Star @ 4:27 PM More than 500 players competed for the chance to challenge Serinda Swan in the Beauty and the Bets FreeRoll after reading about this great promo in the Absolute Poker newsletter. For player TTTMMYY, the stars were in alignment and now he will be going up against great players like CONVIVIALGUY for some monster prize pools. TTTMMYY plays in many freerolls with 1000s of players and sometimes avoiding loose, aggressive, players can be a tough task. He explains the difference between freerolls and money tournaments like this: “The main difference between freerolls and money tournaments is you have more to lose in a tourney when you’ve put up your own money. “Many players are loose and aggressive in a freeroll. It depends what’s up for grabs,” he said. “Everyone played pretty well in the Beauty and the Bets Freeroll. They really wanted it but So did I”. For TTTMMYY his patience paid dividends and now the best is yet to come when he shoots for the big money this Wednesday. How is he going to fair in such a big money tournament? Well, TTTMMYY describes his style like this: “My tournament style is usually loose early in the game when the blinds are low. I take advantage of players not wanting to lose early. I get in a lot more flops and try to out play the player rather than playing the cards. “Once I've accumulated a good stack, I tighten up tremendously in the middle of the tournament. I don’t want to lose what I’ve built. I take calculated risks with premium cards against smaller stakes. Then - late in the tournament - I get smart aggressive.’ he said. “When the blinds go up, you have to take down the pots early with premium cards. The blinds provide a good source of chips. Then, when I get to the final table, I continue to play smart and aggressive using position and my opponent’s situation. If I have a large chip lead, I let other players knock each other out unless I have a monster. “When were down to about 3 or 4 opponents, I become aggressive to try and out play my opponents.” Sounds like a great strategy to us. Players look out. The man with nothing to lose and has freerolled his way to one of AP’s biggest tourneys. The man has a game plan and he knows how to use it. Best of luck to TTTMMYY.
