Player Site Reviews

I've played for real money on several online poker sites and Absolute Poker is my favorite online poker site for numerous reasons.

As a frequent no-limit tournament player, AP's tournament structures are by the far the best--each player starts out with 1500 in chips instead of just the 800 that they give you at Party Poker, or 1000 at Pokerroom. The blinds go up much slower on AP tourneys than they do on Party Poker's. These two factors combine to make AP tournaments more favorable to the skillful players, and less of an all-in luckfest, such as what is forced on the players by Party Poker's single table tournament structure (blinds go up every 10 hands!).

Another advantage to AP that is lacking on many other sites is low-stakes games. This is very helpful to the players who have just hit a bad streak but want to rebuild their account back to higher stakes without re-depositing.

AP is very generous in their promotions, bonuses, and freerolls. Party Poker has very few such promotions, and very few freerolls. Pokerroom has one freeroll a day but you have to line up like pigs at a trough to register quickly enough. AP has numerous freerolls all day long, and some good player-points freerolls throughout the week.

AP's sounds and graphics are by far the best. Allowing players to choose their own image to represent themselves is a good idea. It also helps you remember your opponents so that you can adjust your style of play for them in future encounters.

I've cashed out $3900 from Absolute Poker in the last several months--every check arrived promptly and cleared my account with no problems or delays. My deposits via Western Union were always credited to my AP account within an hour of notifying them by email.

AP's floor traffic may be slower and lighter than Party Poker or Pokerroom's--you can't just jump into a $100 single-table tournament at 3:00 AM like you can on the big sites--but there are also many advantages to AP's size--not all players are complete strangers to each other, players tend to know each other better, look in on each other's games, cheer each other on. When the AP message board announces something about one of their players, you often can remember playing against those people and what they were like. ANOTHER ADVANTAGE TO A SMALL SITE IS THAT THERE TEND TO BE MUCH FEWER PLAYERS TO HAVE TO ELIMINATE IN MULTI-TABLE TOURNAMENTS, SUCH AS THE WSOP SATELLITE THAT I WON. I only had to beat 12 players to make it to the $110 satellie, and only 160 after that to make it to the WSOP. On a larger site, the odds against me would have been much more daunting.

Another thing I like about AP are their WSOP satellites! I can't believe I'm actually going to playing against the world's biggest players and biggest wannabes! I hope I play as an amazing a game as what I played in the satellite. I would not have been able to get anywhere near the WSOP without Absolute Poker providing such a good venue.

Thanks AP and keep up the good, player-friendly work!
