Poker Etiquette
In order to make sure the game of poker is fun for everyone, Absolute Poker recommends that players learn the basics of poker etiquette and follow them. Using good manners and offering respect to your fellow poker players are expected whether you’re playing poker online with Absolute Poker or offline in a poker room or at a friend’s house. In addition to spending time becoming a more polite player, you may wish to review the poker rules and poker hands as well as learn the language of the game with our poker dictionary.
Language
Absolute Poker asks that you please respect your fellow poker players and refrain from using abusive language in the chat window. If you find that another player is being abusive, it’s best to set your options to ignore table chat rather than converse with them. Please note that Absolute Poker does monitor table chat and can remove chat privileges for players at our sole discretion. Constant vulgarity could qualify for grounds of dismissal from Absolute Poker.
Slow play
It’s not uncommon for a game of poker to last over three hours, so it is essential that all players work to ensure the play moves as quickly as possible. Unnecessary slow play is frustrating for everyone involved. That’s why we ask that all players make sure they are familiar with the rules of poker as well as the table’s blind structure prior to sitting down to play. You should also make an effort to not start a game that you know you won’t be able to finish.
Acting in turn
While it doesn’t necessarily apply to online poker games, a poker hand can be greatly affected when a player acts out of turn. Any bet or fold completed out of turn in a live game greatly affects the players left in the game.
All-In Bet
While making an All-In bet during a game of poker is a powerful tool that can gain you both chips and a reputation at the Texas Hold ‘em poker table, it’s important to note that excessive All-In bets are frowned upon by other players, particularly during the first half of a tournament.
Thank you for observing the correct online poker etiquette. It makes the game more pleasant for everyone.
