Bad Beat story

Monday, August 6, 2007 / posted by Poker Star @ 3:04 PM
I was playing poker with a few of my buddies at a home game, and it was a measly $20 buy in with add ons and re-buys till the break.
Well, I lasted till after the break, but I was in the middle of the chip count. I never re-bought, or added on while everyone else did. So I only put in $20 while everyone else put in like $50. Thats why I didn't have as many chips as the other people. It started out with about 9 people, and it was down to the last 4, only paying ou top 2.
We were all neck in neck, thriving for the top 2 places, trying to gain the chip lead. One hand came, and I was under the gun. Pocket Aces, black. So I obviously raised, and 2 people called me. The flop came 2d 5h 8c, I bet again, and the next peoson went all in.
The third person folded, so I barley had him covered, by like a few chips. I thought I was in a good position to knock out a player so I called. The cards were turned and he had 8h 3s. I turned over my Ac and As. The person who folded pre-flop said she had an 8 in her hand, and showed it. So he only had 4 outs. The turn comes... another 8. The river was meaningless, and I was down to only 375 in chips with the blinds at 400 and 800. I got 800 off a double up, and lost the next hand.
After the hand was done, he said he wanted to go home, so thats why he went all in. He knew I had him beat, but the cards didn't come for me. Well, thats one of many bad beats that I have taken. Hope you enjoyed it. Thanks for the site, and hope you keep it up.
