Here's how HORSE works:
- H.O.R.S.E. starts with a round of Limit Texas Holdem followed by a round of Limit Omaha high-low. Next, it's Razz followed by Stud and - finally - a round of Stud H/L Eight or better is played. H.O.R.S.E. gets its name from each of the poker games in the game's rotation.
- In H.O.R.S.E. tournaments, the game changes after every level, as the blind increases. This means that you'll play several hands of the same game before the next game comes up. For instance, if you're currently playing a round of Omaha and the blind increases after your hand, the next game is Razz.
- According to Absolute Poker rules for H.O.R.S.E. cash games, the game changes every eight hands.
- The game cycles back to Limit Holdem, as soon as the Stud H/L Eights or better round is complete.
- When switching between Omaha H/L and Razz, the dealer button is frozen: this stops players missing or paying extra blinds when the game returns to Limit Holdem.
- All the games in H.O.R.S.E. are fixed limit.
H.O.R.S.E. is not for the faint-hearted. You have to be intimate with the rules of poker for five different games and be able to switch between them fluidly to come out a winner. We recommend that those new to online poker spend a good deal of time with each of the games that are part of H.O.R.S.E before attemping it, even in our free games.
